Megarom’s impressive rAge line-up

Megarom Interactive logo Megarom is going to have a busy stand next month at rAge 2008 with some pretty awesome games coming out this year. In particular I’m keen to get my hands on Far Cry 2 as well as for some more play time on the new Call of Duty and Star Wars.

Fourways, South Africa – 15th September 2008 – Megarom Interactive (Pty) Ltd., South Africa’s leading interactive video game importer and distributor, today announced its lineup that will be on show at the rAge Expo to be held from the 3rd – 5th October 2008 at the Coca-Cola Dome at Northgate Shopping Centre.

As in previous years, Megarom will be showcasing the biggest upcoming and recent releases from a number of its publishers. These publishers include Activision, Ubisoft and Take 2.

From Activision, Megarom will be showcasing Star Wars The Force Unleashed, Call of Duty World at War and Guitar Hero World Tour. From Ubisoft we will be showcasing Tom Clancy’s End War, Shaun White Snowboarding, Far Cry 2, Brothers in Arms Hell’s Highway and Prince of Persia. Bioshock and Midnight Club Los Angeles will be on show from Take 2.

In addition, we have developers from Ubisoft coming out from Europe to give demonstrations on their respective titles. Two developers are coming from the Far Cry 2 development team and a developer from the End War team will also be here. A schedule of the demonstrations will be made public at a later stage.

Aside from this powerful lineup, there is the Guitar Hero III competition that is going to be running on the Megarom Interactive, MTNLoaded and Xbox360™ stage. Entries are filling fast with only 41 remaining places in both the Legends and Casual competitions. Xbox 360 now sporting a 60GB hard drive

Yes the rumour that Lazygamer reported on is partially true. South African will now be able to get the 60GB Xbox 360 console for the same price as the previous 20GB Xbox 360 console was selling for.

I believe this is really awesome as it positions the Xbox 360 brand perfectly for the festive season this year.

Guitar Hero III: Legends Competition at rAge Expo 2008

Megarom in association with The Lair are holding a Guitar Hero III Legends of Rock competition at rAge Expo this year. If you think you have what it takes to rock the stage, then get yourself down and enter, you might just win. Even if you aren’t going to compete, pop down and support your mates on stage.

Fourways, South Africa –4th September 2008 – Megarom Interactive (Pty) Ltd., South Africa’s leading interactive video game importer and distributor, today announced, in association with The Lair, the Guitar Hero III – Search for South Africa’s Guitar Hero Legend competition to be held at the rAge Expo this year from the 3rd – 5th October 2008 at the Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate, Johannesburg. There are going to be two competitions running at rAge this year for Guitar Hero III. There is going to be the Ultimate Guitar Hero III Legend Competition and the Ultimate Guitar Hero III Casual Competition for the not so hardcore Guitar Hero III fan.

With a little over a month to the expo, entries have now opened for the Ultimate Guitar Hero III Legend competition on The Lair website at the following address:

The Legends Competition is limited to 64 places and we are searching for the top Guitar Hero player in the country. The competition is going to be run on a round robin tournament format until we have the top 16 players. These players will then go head-to-head against each other until we have the top 2 Guitar Hero players in South Africa. The final song, to be played on Sunday afternoon, will be Dragonforce, Through the Fire and Flames .The Legends competition is going to be completed by participants on the Hard Difficulty. Prizes are going to be awarded to the top 5 places in the Legends Competition. The prizes are as follows:

  • 1st – Xbox 360® with 60GB Hard Drive + Guitar Hero World Tour Super Bundle + Set of JBL Speakers
  • 2nd – Guitar Hero World Tour Game + Microphone + Set of JBL Speakers
  • 3rd – Guitar Hero World Tour Game + Set of JBL Speakers

In addition to the Guitar Hero III Legends Competition, Megarom and The Lair are also hosting a competition aimed at the more casual gamer. This competition is also limited to 64 participants and will be competed in the same format as the Legends Competition. The competition is going to be running on the Megarom/Microsoft/MTN Loaded main stage at rAge, from Friday morning until Sunday. The time of the final is TBA.
